People of faith understand the importance of wellness for individuals
and for the church. The way members of a congregation handle stress,
relationships, change, and self-care directly impacts how well the congregation
functions as a whole. Circle of Life is an empowering wellness program
that connects healthy practices and spirituality, and models a proactive
process for achieving life and health goals. With its emphasis on life
balance and stewardship, it is a means of living out what we affirm
about caring for all creation. In small group ministry, Circle of Life
builds "The Body of Christ" as group members encourage one
another and celebrate each other's victories.
For churches, the Circle of Life is both a journey inward and a journey
outward. By nurturing individuals, it is a way to care for and strengthen
the congregation. By "equipping the saints" for ministry,
it is a way to reach out in mission beyond the four walls of the church.
The Circle of Life has also been successfully used with groups of clergy.
The confidential, collegial process provides a safe space for ministry
professionals to explore their own needs for self-care and life balance.
Clergy who participate in Circle of Life groups enthusiastically affirm
that their personal and professional lives have been changed for the
better.
